Welcome to Carinity Education – Glendyne
At Carinity Education – Glendyne we offer more than just alternative schooling. We walk alongside students, partnering in their education and encouraging them to tap in to their ambitions and achieve their dreams. Traditional concepts of education are supported b the development of life skills, to bring purpose, direction and hope in to the lives of young people.
Glendyne caters for all students from Year 6 to 12.
Teachers, supporters, mentors
At Glendyne our students don’t feel like just a face in the crowd. One of the key difference between traditional schools and Glendyne is our in-school mentoring and extensive pastoral care support. We know their stories, their hopes and their struggles. Our teaching and admin team are actively involved in supporting our students and are always available to listen and help. We have a unique approach to learning, and we use various activities to engage students. This includes physical activities like rock climbing, fishing and ropes courses to help build positive relationships with students in an information ‘family-like’ environment that also helps boost confidence and resilience.
Every student who graduates from Glendyne is equipped with the skills to pursue their dreams – often these are dreams they couldn’t even imagine when they started at Glendyne.
How will I benefit
Every student attends Glendyne for different reason and gets different things out of their time with us. Glendyne students gain greater confidence, build strong social networks and friendships, and develop skills that enable them to enjoy a brighter future. In addition to these valuable life experiences, they are supported in a safe and welcoming space where they feel a real sense of belonging and pride in their learning.
Learning at Glendyne
Our small class sizes mean students receive more individual attention and personalised learning support to improve numeracy and literacy skills. Our interactive and innovative approach incorporates flexible learning in and out of the classroom. Students are able to obtain their Queensland Certificate of Education, complete vocational courses (such as hospitality, engineering, furniture making and IT) or school-based traineeships. Community work experience is also a highlight as well as employment and TAFE pathways.
Glendyne aims to remove barriers to students receiving an education. In addition to the national curriculum, students develop life skills, such as self-management, self-awareness, personal development skills, responsible decision making and social awareness that are essential for beyond schooling. Our dedicated and passionate team of teachers, youth workers and volunteers, as well as a counsellor and a chaplain, are on-site at all times to offer support.
We provide transport, assistance with Centrelink, access to health and wellbeing services, and access to low cost meals and educational materials. We also provide referrals to other agencies that offer additional support.
We aim to create a warm and supportive environment where our students, their families and carers, our staff and visitors always feel welcome. Christian values are at the core of everything we do, as we strive to create communities where people are loved, accepted and supported to reach their full potential.
